Community Acupuncture

Community Acupuncture

Community acupuncture offers an accessible and cost-effective way to experience acupuncture. Treatments take place in a group setting, the way it has been practiced in China for thousands of years. During our community acupuncture sessions, participants will be treated through auricular (ear) acupuncture, using the 5-point NADA (National Acupuncture Detoxification Association) system. Each participant will receive ear needles, rest for 30 minutes, and then the needles will be removed.

No prior acupuncture experience is necessary.

The points

Sympathetic: Relieves tension and balances the sympathetic nervous system, promoting systemic relaxation.

Shen Men: Calms the mind, relieves anxiety, and helps alleviate insomnia and restlessness.

Kidney: Stimulates hormonal functions and addresses emotional fears.

Liver: Aids in detoxification and relaxes the body to help relieve anger, frustration, and depression.

Lung: Aids in detoxification, supports respiration, and helps regulate grief and sadness.

Before Your Session

  • Eat a meal or snack beforehand. Please do not come on an empty stomach.

  • Drink water and arrive well hydrated.

  • Arrive 5–10 minutes early so you have time to choose a seat and settle in.

After Your Session

  • Continue drinking water throughout the day.

  • If possible, take things a little slower and give yourself time to notice how you feel.

  • Some people leave feeling calm and relaxed, while others notice improved energy, sleep, focus, or emotional ease in the days that follow.

  • Healing often unfolds gradually. Pay attention to any subtle shifts in your body, mood, or overall sense of well-being.

Shared Space Agreements

This is a quiet community healing space. People may fall asleep, snore, sigh, cough, or make other natural human noises during treatment.

Once the needles are in place, you must remain seated. If you need to get up, simply get Sarah's attention, and she will remove the needles for you. Needles cannot be reinserted once removed.

Everyone is welcome here who can respectfully share space with people from all races, genders, identities, beliefs, and walks of life.

You are always in charge of your experience. At any point, you may request fewer needles or have them removed. Simply let Sarah know, and she will be happy to assist you.

Questions? Feel free to reach out before your session. I look forward to welcoming you.
